ABOUT THE EVENT

We would like to welcome everyone to join us at the “2nd Annual Carol Stream Animal Hospital Charity Dog Show.”  This fun event will be held September 22nd from 10am - 4pm at the community Town Center in Carol Stream.  We will have a lot of fun events for pets to participate in and win a variety of prizes.  We want to show off the best dogs in Illinois.  This event will directly help pet owners in our community with any hardships that they may be undergoing.  Please consider either participating in one of the fun events, making a charitable donation, or simply attending the event and supporting our cause.

The Carol Stream Animal Hospital has collaborated with the Chicago Veterinary Medical Foundation & enrolled in the AVMF Veterinary Care Charitable Fund. These programs are created to help support veterinarians in offering low or no-cost services to clients facing extraordinary hardships, as well as to support animals rescued from abuse and neglect. Carol Stream Animal Hospital encourages community members to make tax-deductible charitable contributions to the CVMF and the AVMF Veterinary Care Charitable Fund at carolstreamah.com and click the AVMF or CVMF donate button.

Carol Stream Animal Hospital donates considerable time and money each year to local, animal health-related charitable endeavors in Carol Stream and the greater Chicago area. As a participant in the AVMF Veterinary Care Charitable Fund and the CVMF, Carol Stream Animal Hospital will be empowered to provide charitable care to those in need right here in our community, including disabled veterans requiring a service dog, low income senior citizens, Good Samaritans who rescue domesticated animals, and victims of domestic violence. We are excited to play an even bigger role in our community by being able to help more pets and people undergoing hardships. We appreciate your support!

Eligibility, Competition, and Category Explanations

Each competition will award 1st-3rd place finishes. Each event will follow the same basic structure. The judge will approach the handler/dog and ask a few questions depending on the specific competition. The handler and dog will then walk in a large circle to display their attributes and will return to their original location. For the ‘waggiest tail,’ ‘best voice,’ and ‘best trick’ categories each dog/handler will be asked to show their skill both prior and after their walk.

We would like for participants to understand this is a charity event and the primary objective is to have fun and raise money for the American Veterinary Medical Foundation Veterinary Care Charitable Fund. These competitions will be based on subjective attributes and we apologize ahead of time for any situations where a dog may not be awarded a “proper” finish. In the event of any ties, tie-breakers will be determined based on individual stories, behaviors or personality traits that a handler shares. So please tell us all about your dog at each event!

Best Rescue Dog Big/Small

Any rescue dog is welcome to compete in this competition. We are not limiting this competition to dogs from shelters and rescue organizations. If anyone has ‘rescued’ a dog from a bad situation they are eligible to compete. What we are looking for in this competition is the best rescue story, which we understand is quite subjective. It will be up to the judge to assess which dog has the most heartwarming story and has shown resilience and inspiration.

Best Trick

Any dog is welcome to compete in this competition. The judge will assess each trick based on proper execution, trick type, how funny/impressive the trick is and their ability to repeat the trick. If your dog can do multiple tricks, it’s probably best to select the top three to showcase during the event.

Best Senior Dog

Any dog above 7 years old is eligible to compete in this event. The judge will assess each senior dog on their health, mobility, behavior and appearance. We also encourage handlers to share any interesting or fun stories you have as well that may help with any tie-breaker scenario.

Best Puppy

Any dog less than 1 year old is eligible to compete in this event. The judge will assess each puppy on their health, obedience, behavior, and appearance. We also encourage handlers to share any interesting or fun stories you have as well that may help with any tie-breaker scenario.

Best Costume

Any dog is welcome to compete in this category. The judge will assess each dog based on their costume, how well it fits, and how well it goes with each individual dog based on appearance and personality. Each dog will also be judged on how well they strut their stuff on the catwalk!!

Most Handsome/Pretty

Any dog is welcome to compete in this category. The judge will assess each dog based on their appearance, hair coat, body condition score, mobility, health  and  behavior. We also encourage handlers to share any interesting or fun stories you have as well that may help with any tie-breaker scenario.
