Fireworks

Dr. Contreras spoke out against new legislation that is pending in Springfield which would misclassify highly potent pyrotechnic devices.

To our pets, fireworks are equivalent to bombs going off around humans- it feels as though the world is ending. They don’t understand why the loud noises are happening, nor can they predict when they will happen again, and so a flight or fright response kicks in. This can cause animals to get badly hurt, hurt themselves, hide, or even go into seizures. Allowing for the widespread sales of fireworks in Illinois will only make it worse on pets.

Scholarship

Congratulations to Joshua for winning the Carol Stream Animal Hospital Health & Science Scholarship award! Joshua has demonstrated excellence in the classroom and through his involvement in our community. He is headed to the University of Purdue where he will be majoring in Pre-Veterinary Medicine. Life Science College Scholarship

Carol Stream Animal Hospital on Elk Trail in Carol Stream is proud to offer the Life Science College Scholarship to a deserving student each year.

We have been a part of the Carol Stream community since 1988. Veterinary medicine has given us the opportunity to live and serve many of the furry, fuzzy, feathered, and finned friends of Carol Stream for these many years.

While we know that the American way is through sports and athletics, we believe that the academic road is rigorous and a lot of work as well. Many times, academic students don’t get recognized as they should.

So in this light, we choose a student each year who is entering a health professional field at a four year college to receive our $1000 scholarship.

Here are some previous scholarship recipients.
