Surgery Services at Carol Stream Animal Hospital

We know that you always want the best for your family, and this is certainly the case when your loved one is facing surgery. This can be a time of stress and uncertainty, and you want your family member to be safe and comfortable in the hands of someone knowledgeable, skilled, and caring throughout the entire surgical experience, including pre- and post-operative periods.

Our veterinarians at Carol Stream Animal Hospital are skilled at performing a wide range of pet surgeries, using the most up-to-date techniques in our state of the art surgical suite.  Our hospital is well-equipped to perform most minor and major surgical procedures, from spays and neuters to more complicated emergency, orthopedic and soft-tissue surgeries. Some orthopedic procedures we perform include cranial cruciate ruptures (ACL), joint surgery and bone biopsies.

The surgical team at Carol Stream Animal Hospital understands your concerns about surgery, and each one of us has been in your shoes. We promise to do everything we can to make your pet’s surgery as positive and stress-free an experience as possible.  We go above and beyond from the moment you drop off your pet through the time you bring your pet home.

Prior to each surgery, our veterinarians conduct a thorough physical examination to assess your pet’s current health status.  We strongly recommend pre-anesthetic blood and urine testing, since not all potential concerns can be detected through an external exam. These diagnostic tests not only give us a more accurate picture of your pet’s health and potential risk factors, but they also allow us to tailor a pain management plan that is specifically designed to meet your pet’s unique needs.

During surgery, our veterinarians work with great care and precision to conduct your pet’s procedure as efficiently as possible. Our dedicated team of veterinary technicians and assistants will be on hand throughout the process to assist during surgery and carefully monitor your pet’s heart rate, blood pressure and oxygen levels to ensure their wellbeing at all times.  Also, we use only the safest anesthesia products.

When surgery is complete, we will carefully transfer your pet to our warm, quiet recovery area, where we will continue to monitor them as they begin to wake from the anesthesia. Someone from our care team will contact you to let you know how the surgery went, advise you on how your pet is recovering and arrange a time for you to come pick your pet up. Before leaving with your companion, we will explain any aftercare instructions we have, including a plan to manage your pet’s pain once you return home.  In all cases, we follow up surgery with a call the next day to answer additional questions you may have and to ensure your pet is recovering as expected.

No matter what the procedure, you can trust the team at Carol Stream Animal Hospital to take excellent care of your loved one before, during and after surgery.  Your pet will be on the road to recovery before you know it!
